Cool things are happening with Operation Creekside. Last night we had our first pack at 745 1st St and saw many new faces. We have made contact with a number of service members on our mailing list. The Brentwood Cafe, Freedom Tub OP was a big success and we continue to make good connections with the Brentwood community, the support the troops community and others.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

We continue to put God at the center of what we do, putting our ministry in His hands. We pray for the Troops generally and specifically for the Troops on our mailing list, we pray for support and growth of the ministry and we pray for the supporters and God has been good.

Our 1st pack at our building was a success. We had about 25 people there to pack boxes, pray and fill our 600 sq ft. We found that we have some needs to help make the space more efficient and be able to provide more personal care packages for our troops, but 745 1st St is and will be a huge blessing for Operation Creekside and by extension the troops we support.

We have made contact with a number of service members on our mailing list and as a result we have some specific requests as well as feed back that our efforts make a big difference. Here are just a couple of excerpts:

…I go out on patrol every day in the remote villages of Afghanistan and I recently came cross a very small rundown clinic for children and women. They had nothing but straw cots and dirty sheets and no curtains to cover the windows or partition off the treatment areas. The one female doctor there begged my team to please help her with supplies. I took all the money I had in my pocket and collected a few dollars from the rest of the soldiers in the platoon, and we went to the local shop and purchased everything they had on the shelves (which was very little) in the line of towels, large cloths and a few pillow cases.

Thank you very much for the care package you sent me, I appreciate it very much. …I’m a medic who works in a field hospital and most of the care package stuff I give to my wounded soldiers, they need it more than me. There are some wish list items I’d like to get for them and if you can do that it would be great. I have an xbox I’ve donated to the patient hold area but I am short on games… We are in great need of a microwave and cheap inexpensive shorts for the patients. We cut their clothes off when the come in so we scrounge to dress them, …also a few towels for showering would be great. I appreciate your support and it’s people like you who make me proud to do what I do.

We would like to say a big thank you to Paul and the Brentwood Cafe crew and customers. Not only did we feel completely welcome but we received an incredible amount of support from donations to goods to people showing up for our pack last night. Visit the Brentwood Cafe for great food and service.

The mission of Operation Creekside remains to support our deployed Troops spiritually through prayer and physically through care packages. We hope to remain attentive to and follow God’s plan for Operation Creekside along the way. We want to touch lives and point people to Him both at home and abroad by doing what we do and loving everyone.

Please pray for our Troops, the United States and her enemies, and Operation Creekside. If you wish to be a part of the prayer team please e-mail us at prayer@operationcreekside.org

This is the first Operation Creekside newsletter, designed to let you know what is happening, prayer requests and praises, where we are headed and how we are going to get there. Let’s start with prayer requests, seems like a good idea to start with prayer.

A Brentwood Soldier has recently lost 2 pilots from his unit in Afghanistan. Please pray for their families and the unit.

June has already been an exciting month! We have moved into our new location at 745 1st Street in Brentwood and made a great connection with one of our neighbors. And there is more to come:

The Freedom Tub is at Bill Brandt Ford. Bill Brandt Ford has been and continues to be great partner for Operation Creekside. Currently the Freedom Tub is on display on the Quick lane side of the dealership and the folks at Bill Brandt will gladly sell raffle tickets to those interested. From oil changes to tires, please visit Bill Brandt Ford for all your automotive needs.

We will be at Brentwood Cafe this weekend, June 10-12, to display the tub, sell tickets and spread the word of our mission. Come down the the Brentwood Cafe for a meal this weekend.

We have the opportunity to support our troops is a more personal fashion by delivering popcorn to the USS Rodney M Davis in San Francisco on Friday. The tentative plan is to pull the trailer across the bay to support the sailors with some goodies.

Thanks to all who came to the VFW pancake breakfast to support both the VFW and Operation Creekside, both groups greatly appreciate your attendance.

Operation Creekside was proud to participate in “The Memorial Weekend” in Manteca, CA Sunday. Organized by Place of Refuge Church this weekend event balances solemn rememberance with a great family celebration. The focus of the event is to honor and remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. As you walk into the park you notice a white tent surrounded by over 6000 crosses, the Traveling Tribute. Approaching the tent there are racks of posters with the name, rank, d.o.d., age and picture of 50 fallen heros from within 50 miles of Manteca, men like Spc Joseph A Graves of Discovery Bay, Staff Sgt Daniel Hansen of Tracy and Pfc Jesse Mizener of Stockton. At the center are the panels of the Traveling Tribute, 10 panels, showing over 6000 names of U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen killed in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. A very sobering reminder that the freedoms we enjoy come at a high cost. A ceremony to dedicate the 10th panel honoring DC3 Nathan Bruckthal, USCG, followed a Gold Star Family lunch and procession escorted by the Freedom Riders.

In addtion to the Tribute the event includes music, demonstrations, displays and booths for organizations like Operation Creekside, The Vet Center and the Marine Corps League. We were honored to be able to say thanks to countless veterans, meet many Blue Star families, Gold Star families and friends of deployed troops. We also connected with other organizations whose mission is also to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, there were many, all doing great work. A couple of our neighboring booths, for example, were the Honor the Fallen Foundation, a group dedicated to Honoring the memory of fallen heros and Packed with Pride, another organization like Operation Creekside who sends care packages to our deployed troops.

We will always remember those who have worn the uniforms of the United States Armed Services to win and preserve our freedom, from the Revolutionary War to the Great War to end all wars to Vietnam to Iraq and Afganistan.

We are building the Freedom Hot Tub to raffle off, to raise money for our continuing mission- supporting deployed US troops. Even with the main bad guy gone, our troops are still out there.

Operation Creekside is in need of $2500 to pay the balance due- Ken Whitaker of Sasville Properties already put up the $1000 to start. This tub, being built at Clipper Spas in Walnut Grove will be done this week. 2 sponsors at $1000 each and 1 at $500 are needed!

What have we been doing?? On May 10th we will be packing and shipping our 2000th care package!! We have over 300 names on our list, all branches. We ship at least 100 care packages every month – postage alone is $1300 per month. Each box costs $25 to $50 for the quality goods we send like Love Our Troops Trail Mix, Calif almonds, etc..

Business sponsors will be on all flyers and banners and can send artwork to have their company logo put on the operation Creekside trailer. Our sponsors include Bill Brandt Ford, Prestige Press, Fast Signs, Gursky Ranch..

We support Warriors Watch Riders, SOT(Support Our Troops), East County Military Peer to Peer, Blue Star Moms, all veterans service organizations and have a close relationship with Gold Star Dad, Kevin Graves with the Joey Graves Foundation- Some Gave All.

The responses we get back from the troops are ALL positive and appreciative! We do special requests and even send some goods stateside to returning units.

Please consider helping Operation Creekside to continue our ministry- our website is operationcreekside.org.

Checks payable to Operation Creekside memo Freedom Hot Tub will go directly to this fund. We continue to accept checks to Postmaster for mailing goods.
